Losing the fights against destructive embryo research, against abortion (no, we have not lost that yet), against euthanasia or eugenic selection would be tragic and we would be in moral free-fall but losing the fight against same-sex marriage will herald a new age of Christian persecution.
In line with other ethical and moral legal permissions that become compulsions there are consequences to losing this battle in that we are then compelled to go along with the lies that have become enshrined in law. Our freedom to speak truth to society and to our children is at risk and will be interpreted as vilification and intolerance.
Is this disturbing? It should be. This issue is a watershed in Australian political history. If the truth about marriage is crucified at the highest level of Australian government there will be no getting it back. You may argue there is no point in fighting it, that this is part of the inevitable decline preparatory to God’s judgment but should we not preach and teach truth to our children? Should we not attempt to speak truth to our MPs before the February deadline?
