2017 – A Year of Shame – a Failure to Protect
The Royal Commission into Sexual Abuse has correctly condemned sections of the institutionalised church for its failure to protect. As God’s people we have failed to protect. And as a country we are also now guilty.
We failed to protect against our “little ones being led into sin”.
But in the midst of failure we had a notable “success” – we now have a God’s army of dedicated, prayerful people from all walks of life with multiple magnificent skills and experience.
2018 – A Year of Celebration
As a people of God may it be seen and heard that “the shout of the King” is among us.
“Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed.
The man reached out his hand, and it became normal, just like the other one. Then the Pharisees called a meeting and discussed plans for killing Jesus.
Moral: keep watchful. Never say die (Galatians 6:9 do not grow weary). The unexpected can happen. Our God is the God of miracles.
For those who are in Eastern Metropolitan Perth we will be walking daily 6.00-7.15am (short or long or even longer), commencing tomorrow morning Tuesday 24 October until Wed Nov 15. Where? Broadway Arboretum, Bassendean.
In the second point you talk about loving our neighbour. Surely the distress felt by LGBTQI people presently caused by this plebiscite is a reason to say “yes”, thus affirming their homosexual orientation, loving them as Jesus taught.
A belated response to those Christians saying “yes” or abstaining and a reminder to pray.
And this of course leads to the threat to our freedom – control of belief and to speak of that which we believe, and beyond that, control of our thoughts and minds – if necessary with correctional re-education classes. This threat is spearheaded by the push for same-sex marriage
